Race for Oceans
A nonprofit organization with strong ambitions
Race for Oceans Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in Løkken. The organization's purpose is to raise awareness about UN Sustainable Development Goal 14 - Life Below Water - including issues such as the increasing plastic pollution in the oceans around us. Race for Oceans was launched in 2019 and has since been behind several initiatives centered around sports, physical activity, knowledge sharing, and beach cleaning. Among these initiatives, the Race for Oceans Relay stands out as a central event - a sports event that, in 2022, spans 19 days and covers a route of 456 km along the Jutland west coast. Signe Simonsen is the founder of the organization and also leads the Relay.
A good start was crucial
Martin Dyhr Jørgensen has been the auditor for Race for Oceans since 2020, and the collaboration began in the midst of the organization's establishment phase. Signe had a vision and a unique idea, and Christensen Kjærulff's task was to assist with the financial setup and establishment, so that Race for Oceans, led by Signe, could have a strong start to their mission.
Digitizing the bookkeeping helped free up time and energy
In an organization like Race for Oceans Foundation, all efforts are focused on advancing their purpose, which has meant that they needed to outsource their bookkeeping and financial functions. In this context, Christensen Kjærulff has assisted with the digitalization of the organization's bookkeeping, which according to Signe, has freed up a lot of time and energy.
When we initiated the collaboration, Signe was based in Copenhagen. Despite the fact that the organization is now based about 400 km from Christensen Kjærulff, the collaboration works extremely well since all accounting materials are digital, and our meetings are conducted online, says Martin.
